>Singaporean and Malaysian, on Chinese menus

You'll notice these characters popping up now and then on regular Chinese restaurant menus. If you don't want to miss "Singapore style" or "Malay style" Chinese food, it doesn't hurt to know what they look like.

<--Singaporean: Xing - star, Zhou - state

Malaysian -->
Ma - horse (I prefer traditional characters, but this simplified version will have to do for now)
Lai - come

>Item #186, Malaysia Style Fried Rice Noodle, Happy Garden Restaurant, San Francisco, CA
>Item #4 under Fried Noodles, Singapore rice noodles, Nyonya, New York, NY
>Item #4 under Seafood, (Malay) lemon grass squids wrapped in silver foil, Nyonya, New York, NY

How do the regular Chinese restaurant versions fare compared to the real stuff? Ah, that's another story...
